The trailer of Nawazuddin Siddiqui's next movie is out, and like the title indicates, his character seems to be a real "Haraamkhor". The movie also stars Shweta Tripathi of Masaan fame. She’s currently starring in the web-series, The Trip, as well.
The film is about a married professor who falls for a student, and things start to go horribly wrong when he finds out that he’s competing for her affection with another student.
This movie has already won accolades at the Mumbai Film Festival and the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA), but its release in India was stalled due to an FIR filed by the Maharashtra's Textbook bureau. The complaint was based on accusations that the film’s promo material tampered with the bureau’s logo.
Haraamkhor also ran into problems with the censor board, which found its basic premise objectionable.
After months of court proceedings, the filmmakers have finally won through and the movie is set to see the light of day on 13th January 2017.
The trailer had me in splits throughout, and you can check it out below.
