On Monday, the Kerala government opened Kochi’s first ever metro services to the public.
There was quite a bit of excitement around the first ride. People got there as early as 4.45 am to take it.
But the Kochi Metro is gaining accolades for a different reason.
In a first move of its kind, the Kerala government has hired 20 transgender people to work in the Kochi metro. They will be part of different departments like housekeeping and customer service.
The metro’s new employees put out a small message on inclusivity through a Facebook post. Watch it here:
